Ticketmaster and Its Scalpers

In 2018, Ticketmaster’s secret scalper platform, TradeDesk was exposed to the public when a journalist was sent to a live entertainment convention. Ticketmaster had pitched their program to the journalist and exposed their resale program. It’s program allows ticket scalpers to sell their tickets on Ticketmaster’s site for a percentage fee. Ticketmaster’s programs allows them to rack in more money and charges the buyer and the scalper fees. It is a system where Ticketmaster wins in the end. The sales representative for Ticketmaster at the convention told the journalist that there are clients with hundreds of Ticketmaster accounts who buy up tickets and mark them up at resale price. In response to this exposure, Ticketmaster did not release an official statement and appeared to do nothing about this situation.
